Reduce No-Shows and Cancellations with These Tips

Filling your dental office schedule is really only part of the battle.

  • Train. Train your patients to show up by helping them schedule in advance, writing reminders, etc. Implement an hour limit for notice of cancellations,  including a fee for last-minute cancellations.
  • Reminders. Do everything you can to help patients remember when they have an appointment. Send them reminders two months, two weeks, two days, and one hour beforehand unless the patients opt out.
  • Find out why. People do not always state the true reason for cancellation. Try to get to the bottom of why they are canceling and address their pain point.
  • Get them on the schedule. No matter what you do, patients will still need to cancel occasionally. Get them back on the schedule as soon as possible by following up via phone call and email.
